Do I need my own VPS?
You can provide your own VPS — any Linux server with at least 1GB RAM works. Or we can provision one for you as part of onboarding. We recommend Hetzner for the price-to-performance ratio; a suitable server runs around $5–9/month.
What happens to my documents if I cancel?
Everything is on your server from day one. There's nothing to cancel — we hand over full admin access and SSH credentials at the end of setup. Your documents, templates, and signing history stay exactly where they are, run entirely by your team.
Are DocuSeal signatures legally binding?
Yes. DocuSeal produces legally binding electronic signatures compliant with the eSign Act (US), eIDAS (EU), and equivalent regulations in most jurisdictions. Each completed document includes a full audit certificate with timestamps, IP addresses, and email verification records.
Can clients sign without creating an account?
Signers receive a link by email and sign directly in their browser — no account, no app download, no friction. Only your team (the senders) need logins to the system.
How is this different from just installing DocuSeal myself?
DocuSeal is open source and free to self-host. The challenge is the setup: server provisioning, Docker configuration, SSL, DNS, email delivery, and getting your templates right. We handle all of that in 24 hours so your IT team doesn't have to. Most businesses that try to DIY either stall out or end up with a misconfigured system. After we're done, your IT team takes over with full documentation and credentials.
What does the onboarding call cover?
We walk through the system with whoever will use it day-to-day: how to create and send documents, build templates, track signing status, and manage users. It takes about an hour and we record it so you can share it with new team members later.
Can I add extra templates later?
You can build templates yourself using the drag-and-drop editor at no extra cost. If you'd prefer us to build them, we charge $50–150 per template depending on complexity.
